At nearly 30,000 square miles, Southwest Idaho’s diversity is tremendous. Sure there are numerous wonderful courses, but because there’s so much more to experience—including the recently designated AVA Snake River Wine Country—the Southwest Idaho Travel Association divides the area into five regions, each with its own charm—Sunny Meadows, Raging Rapids, Big City/Small Towns, High Desert Vistas and Landmark Journey.

Scenic Sunny Meadows, bordered by scenic mountains and the mighty Snake River, features charming small towns.

Raging Rapids has a little of everything—world-class skiing, world-famous whitewater, and world-escaping hiking and biking trails.

The Big City, Small Towns region boasts vibrant Boise’s urban setting, historic mining towns and burgeoning wine country.

Wide vistas in the quiet High Desert Vistas region are punctuated by wineries, ghost towns and desert landscape.

With notable landmarks like the Oregon Trail’s Three Island Crossing and North America’s largest sand dune, surprises reign in the Landmark Journey region.
